WWDC Is Back

WWDC Is Back

Next week I’ll head back to Northern California for the first time in three years for WWDC. It will be a far different WWDC than the last one I attended in 2019, if for no other reason than there will be far fewer people there, and it’s being held at Apple Park. But different isn’t a bad thing. The world is a far different place in 2022 than it was a few years ago, and Apple has adapted its developer conference just like so many other parts of our lives have had to adapt to living with COVID-19.

What’s important isn’t that WWDC will be different, but that there’s an in-person component once again. Apple has done well with its two online-only WWDCs, but there’s still value in attending in-person for those who can. It’s not an easy thing to quantify, and everyone gets something different from WWDC, but that doesn’t make it any less valuable. In fact, WWDC has meant a lot of different things to me over the years, which I thought I’d share here as I prepare to head to my tenth WWDC.
