No matter what text editor or note-taking app you use, I think it’s important to have a digital scratchpad available for temporary text. I use a scratchpad all the time to prepare shortform text, like some email messages and Discord announcements. I also use it to think in text, organize my thoughts, and stash temporary text that would easily get lost in my clipboard manager.

If I’m working in Obsidian, I use a dedicated scratchpad note I call clippy.md. I just add to the top of the note as needed and then copy and paste the final product into another app when I’m finished. Periodically, I delete the entire contents of the note.
