I’m excited for the rumored Mac mini redesign that Mark Gurman says will approach the size of an Apple TV. As rumors go, that’s not a lot to go on, but that’s the fun part. Until Apple unveils a new mini, we can let our imaginations run wild.

On next week’s episode of AppStories, Federico and I talk about the hardware innovations we’d like to see Apple lift from other products. That got me thinking about the mini again. The computer started as a budget Mac that dispensed with a screen, keyboard, and mouse. The idea was that you could dump your dusty old Windows PC and plug your existing peripherals into one compact box.
