My PDF Read-It-Later Shortcut Workflow

Last Sunday, I spent more time than I care to admit experimenting with web services, testing JavaScript, and concocting regular expressions inspired (or perhaps cursed) by my conversation with Federico on this week’s episode of AppStories about imagining the perfect read-it-later app. After hearing how Federico uses Push to Kindle, I was intrigued. The idea of a special place for long-form reading with few distractions is appealing to me, but I know I’d feel too constrained by the way the Kindle silos materials imported by readers.

I had used FiveFilters’ Push to Kindle bookmarklet years ago, but I had forgotten about the other web apps they make. There are tools for fetching the full text of items in truncated RSS feeds, creating RSS feeds from sites that don’t offer them, and others, but what caught my eye were two smaller projects: PDF Newspaper and Simple Print.
