Typewriter

I use more than one text editor. These days, I write in Obsidian most of the time, but I switch to other editors for specific tasks. When it comes to editing someone else’s work or previewing Markdown files, my go-to app is often Typewriter, a lightweight Markdown editor for the Mac, iPhone, and iPad with an excellent built-in previewer. The app is so handy that I’ve made it the default app for opening Markdown files on the Mac, which is the version I’m going to focus on because it’s the one I use the most.

One of the app’s greatest strengths is its solid set of defaults, which is a good thing because there are so few adjustable preferences. The app offers one monospace and one proportional font. Both are good choices and not as much as I’d like for my main editor, but fine for a lightweight editor. Type size, margins, and line height are all adjustable too.
