How Shortwave Has Significantly Improved the Way I Deal with Email

I use Shortwave’s Splits feature to isolate TestFlight beta messages.

I’ve been using Shortwave as my main email client since the beginning of the year. It hasn’t been a miracle cure for my email woes – I still get too many messages – but it has gone a long way towards helping me get through those messages more efficiently. So today, I thought I’d share some of what has worked well, along with things that haven’t. Even if Shortwave isn’t your thing, there should be a few pointers here that can help you no matter what email app you use.

I’ll start with a feature that seemed like a good idea at first but hasn’t worked for me at all: Shortwave’s task management system. The app can turn any message into a task, using AI to assign the task’s name based on the subject and content of the message. In most cases, the app does a great job coming up with actionable tasks, which are collected in a separate tab and linked to the original message.
