Getting Nostalgic About the Mac
In 1996, my Dad got a surprise: he’d been overpaying his taxes for the last year or so and was due a considerable rebate. He decided this windfall would best be spent buying a home computer. This decision would define the rest of my life. It sounds like hyperbole, but it’s true.
After buying countless magazines (my Dad is nothing if not thorough) and making many trips to the library to ‘log on to the World Wide Web’ (if there’s one thing I miss from those days, it’s the delightfully beguiling phrases), my Dad decided the best computer to buy was something called an ‘Apple Macintosh’. He chose the Performa 6320CD Series.
