Creating a Markdown Reference Library with Gather, Shortcuts, and Obsidian

I’ve got two shortcuts for everyone today that I use with Obsidian, but that can be used with other apps too. The first shortcut uses Brett Terpstra’s updated command line tool Gather to create a Markdown-based reference library. The second is a personal automation trick for syncing data when an app, like Obsidian, uses a sync technology that doesn’t sync in the background of iOS or iPadOS.

First, let’s tackle Gather. If you’re not a developer, the hardest part of setting this shortcut isn’t the shortcut, it’s setting up Gather, a command line tool made by Brett Terpstra. Gather takes web content, converts it to Markdown-formatted text, and can copy it to your clipboard or save it as a text file.
