Call Me Crazy, But I Loved CES
Before I left for CES, a lot of people told me I’d hate it. I can see why: it’s like trying to fit 10 pounds of potatoes into a five-pound sack. There are too many people crammed into too tight a space. That makes everything difficult. It’s hard to get from one place to another, it can take forever to get a table at a restaurant to eat, everything involves long lines, and the chances that you’ll leave Vegas sick are high. Yet despite all of that, I loved it.
Part of why I loved CES is undoubtedly because no one forced me to go there. It was my decision, which made a big difference. That meant when the NVIDIA keynote veered into boring territory, Brendon and I cut our losses and left to grab dinner ahead of the crowds. Then, when a YouTuber monopolized an ASUS ROG Flow Z13 tablet, we moved on and found something else to check out. We weren’t on a deadline or trying to break news, and we had already tested it elsewhere.
