Apps for Readers

The eBook landscape is dominated by big players like Kindle, its affiliates Goodreads and Audible, and, to a lesser extent, Apple Books, but there are other options for reading, listening to audiobooks, and discovering new books.

Yomu

Books from the big online sellers are protected by DRM, but there are publishers who release books without DRM. Plus, many classics that are no longer subject to copyright protection are available without DRM. For all of those books, I love Yomu, a beautifully designed eBook reader for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac that allows you to customize your reading experience, annotate books, and sync changes over iCloud. The app allows you to import from a wide variety of apps and cloud services and supports EPUB, Mobi (.mobi, .prc), Kindle (.azw, .azw3, .kf8), PDF (.pdf), and Comics (.cbz, .cbr) formats.
