An RSS, Bookmarking, Read-Later, and Highlighting Update
When it comes to RSS, bookmark management, read-later services, and highlights, the experiments never truly end. I’ve been trying a few new things recently that I thought I’d share today.
RSS
First, I’ve tentatively decided to abandon Feedly as my RSS sync service when my one-year subscription ends this fall. As a sync service, Feedly has been reliable and fast, but it’s also more expensive than other sync services. That’s because it offers features that go beyond standard RSS. For example, when you open an article on Feedly’s website or in its app, portions are highlighted based on what an algorithm thinks is important about the article. Also, you can follow topics using search queries across a vast number of websites, which is a feature that isn’t based on RSS at all. Plus, you can follow subreddits.
