Alternative Read-Later Apps
Read-later apps have been dominated by Instapaper and Pocket for a long time, but that’s changing with Matter and perhaps the upcoming app Readwise has announced. There’s more to the read-later app story, though, with many other options available on the App Store that are worth trying.
Articles+
Articles+ is the most full-featured option of this collection. Not only is the app available on all platforms, but it includes a robust set of tools that students and researchers will like. Articles are parsed to remove distractions, and there’s support for highlighting and note-taking built into the article viewer. I’ve also been impressed with Articles+'s export features that allow highlights and notes to be exported as Markdown-formatted text with deep links back to the highlights in the app, a big plus for using the app as part of a research process. The app also supports folders, tagging, favorites, and multiple sorting options, providing a lot of flexibility for displaying the materials you save.
