A Roundup of Videogame Companion Apps

Ultimate Game Guide.

Today, I thought I’d explore some of the best ways I’ve found to keep up with videogames, so you can spend less time researching games and more time playing. What makes tracking games more difficult than it should be is that the industry is fractured across multiple platforms and services. Games are available on consoles, PCs, Macs, and mobile devices. Formats vary, too, with games often available to download, as physical media, and streaming from a server. Fortunately, there are a lot of apps to make things easier.

You don’t have to play games on multiple platforms for media trackers to help keep your game queue organized. Even if you’re dedicated to a single system, a media tracking app makes it easy to keep on top of what’s available and what you want to play next. My three favorite media tracking apps for videogames are GameTrack, Sequel, and Sofa. Each app handles the basics of creating lists with details about the games you add, but they take different approaches that will appeal to many types of gamers.
