Question: If you were setting up something like MacStories today, would you use Medium, WordPress, Squarespace, or something else? What if you had limited coding ability? (Anonymous)

I would still go with WordPress because of the extensible nature of the platform and amount of resources available online. I’m a big believer in controlling my website from end to end, and I don’t feel like other publishing platforms would allow me to customize every single detail of my blog. Even with limited coding skills, there are hundreds of tutorials on the web on how to set up a WordPress site, customize its look, and extend it with free plugins made by the community. I recognize how Medium and Squarespace have allowed millions of people to start blogging, but if I were to restart my career today, I’d still choose my own server with a WordPress installation.
