My Quick Action Setup in GoodTask

As I’ve shared on MacStories Weekly and AppStories before, for the past several months I’ve been using GoodTask – a third-party Reminders client for Apple platforms – as my primary task manager. I tested other apps (as I always do, since it’s part of my job), but I always come back to GoodTask for a variety of reasons: the app is frequently updated to take advantage of the latest iOS and iPadOS technologies; Reminders integration means I can easily add new tasks via Siri on the Apple Watch; and lastly, GoodTask is one of the most customizable apps I’ve ever used on my iPhone and iPad. Today I want to focus on the latter aspect of the app’s experience and share some of the quick actions I created to speed up task editing and rescheduling in GoodTask.

Quick actions are, effectively, presets that allow you to modify any task attribute with just one tap. For instance, you can create a quick action to enter a specific title, add a note to a task, or schedule it for any given date. Quick actions are particularly handy if you find yourself editing or scheduling tasks with specific patterns on a regular basis: for example, I noticed I was often rescheduling my Friday tasks to the following Monday at 12 PM, so I created a quick action that does it for me with one tap without having to interact with iOS’ date and time picker. Now imagine this, but for any editable field you see in the task inspector view in the app, and you get why this feature has so much potential and is part of what sets GoodTask apart from the competition.
