Creating a URL Scheme Launcher for the Mac Menu Bar

I’ve been doing a lot of admin-related work lately to plan the next year of MacStories, Club MacStories, and AppStories (spoiler: we have huge things in store for 2021) and, for this reason, I’ve been spending more time than usual on my Mac mini between chatting with the team on Skype and Slack and writing documentation and plans in Craft. In doing this, I’ve noticed how I keep returning to a couple documents in Craft that contain links to other projects and related sub-sections; more specifically, inspired by Andy Matuschak’s “What’s top of mind” note, I now find myself constantly referring back to a note called ‘Dashboard’ in Craft where I save and outline things I have on my mind before they become actual tasks or full-fledged documents elsewhere. Here’s what it looks like:

Once I noticed this new pattern in my workflow, speeding it up on my iPhone and iPad was fairly easy: I copied the note’s deeplink in Craft, created an icon launcher with Iconboard, gave it one of Michael Flarup’s incredible Juice icons (I’m using the one he originally designed for Adobe XD since it reminds me of “connecting thoughts”), and added it to my dock. Now, whenever I tap it, the Dashboard document in Craft opens instantly so I can jot down something new or check out what I previously saved:
