Behind the Scenes of My iOS and iPadOS 26 Review

Editor’s Note: There are a couple of complex prompts and code blocks in this story that may not render perfectly in every email client. If you see something that seems off, please consult the web version here.

This year’s research and writing process for my annual iOS and iPadOS review has been very different. Like in previous years, I started taking notes about the new OS versions during the WWDC keynote and, later that week, during briefings at Apple Park. The research process began immediately, and it continued for two and a half months across the entire beta development cycle, until I started writing the review in early September. This has been my approach, timing-wise, for the past three years: I let my thoughts simmer for two months, prepare a detailed outline of everything I’m going to write, and then hit the ground running in early September.
